Keys and Stix Festival

Keys and Stix Festival is the first to exclusively feature duos with piano and drums, as well as variations there of. The unique event aims at capturing a new trend by accommodating already existing duos, but also at inspiring others for innovative input in that direction.
Since the format shapes the profile of the festival and removes the focus from stylistic identity, practically any keys-and-stix duos ranging from improvised avant-garde jazz to contemporary, classical, electronic or ethnical can contribute to the affirmation of the idea.
After a debut in a rather informal atmosphere at the Mellotone Studios, Amsterdam the second edition took place at the Bimhuis, Amsterdam on 25 and 26 March 2011. Huub van Riel, artistic director of the Bimhuis joined the artistic committee and the festival became a co-production of the Bimhuis and Keys and Stix Foundation.
